Wapiti has made its providers aware of changes regarding the verification process of DEA certificates.
In the past, Wapiti has been able to run the verification without the assistance of the provider. This is no longer possible due to new security measures aimed at ensuring the protection of provider information. The DEA website has new multi-factor authentication requirements, and a token is now necessary to access an account.
When Wapiti begins the verification process, providers receive an email from DEA containing the required token. As the token is time-sensitive, we recommend our providers run the DEA verification themselves and provide us with a copy of the certificate. Again, while it is an additional step, DEA has implemented these changes to ensure the security of provider information.
