Wapiti Medical Staffing traces its roots to 1996 in a small, rural hospital in Iowa. Our founder was a resident at the time and was tasked with managing the ER schedule at the facility.
After learning and struggling firsthand with the staffing challenges that come along with keeping a rural ER running smoothly, a staffing company was eventually born.
The word “wapiti” means “Elk,” and it also means to “roam.” Elk are strong, majestic creatures, and we are proud of our providers who roam the countryside delivering care to local communities, living up to our internal motto to “Be herd, be wild, be magnificent.” The pride we take in our work helped us grow over the years, and in 2012, Wapiti teamed with Siouxland Staffing Services under the Wapiti name. In 2018, Wapiti acquired Emergency Practice Associates (EPA), a medical staffing company based in Waterloo, Iowa. Wapiti currently serves Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan and select systems across the U.S.
While Wapiti Medical Staffing has grown over the years to serve multiple states, one thing has remained constant – our passion for helping rural health systems, our commitment to maintaining close relationships, and our desire to provide the best service to every facility and provider we work with.
