Locum Tenens Week – Serving Rural Communities and Rural Hospitals

Approximately 60 million Americans (20% of the population) live in rural communities where the physician-to-patient ratio is roughly 1 to 2,500. Utilizing locum tenens physicians and advanced practice providers has shown to be an effective tactic in combatting the medical personnel shortage in underserved rural areas. In fact, more than 90 percent of hospitals in the U.S. report that they use locum tenens to help fill staffing gaps (Source: Becker’s Hospital Review).

Wapiti Medical Staffing places locum tenens health care practitioners in both long-term and short-term positions at medical facilities throughout the United States. For more than two decades we have been helping communities with their health care needs. At Wapiti, we serve a multi-state region and have forged valuable relationships as a result of that work. Our team of locum tenens health practitioners works diligently to ensure that the health care needs of underserved rural areas are met.
